Searching on www.yourmobile.com

This is a leading ringtone site offering free ringtones via SMS.
Our editor tried out the search.

From the home page (www.yourmobile.com), I wanted to search for a song title - "Hotel California".

Being lazy, I just typed "Ho" in Song Title box, and submitted. This worked, but the results were unexpected: the search returned songs with "ho" anywhere in the song title, so "I wanna hold your hand" and 'Fixing a Hole",  were also included (among others).

I now wanted to listen to the ringtone, so I clicked on the little headphone (preview) icon next to the song and...

Nothing. Another hurdle needed to be climbed, namely the downloading of a Real Audio player, which I did (the Realplayer 8 Basic - free player) - took about 20 minutes to download and install..

I installed the player, steadfastedly unticking all the channel options, etc, which I really am not interested in (you may be). Finally, I was ready to click on "Hotel California" ring tone and listen to it ….

Unfortunately it sounded pretty bad. Not like the original at all (I did use my imagination, but still… yeuch!) So I downloaded the tone to my phone to see if it sounded any better than on the PC. I struggled a bit because the site is quite slow. When I did get in, it downloaded the tone very quickly, and it sounded much better on my phone than listening to the preview, so my advice is:

Don't bother with the Preview - it's not similar enough to the final ringtone to make a decision either way.

Over the next few weeks, we'll continue reviewing how to use leading ringtone sites.

Sharing Phone Numbers with your Nokia

The Send Card option on many Nokia models is a quick and convenient way to give out phone numbers from your address book.

Simply select a name and choose the Send Card option. You will be prompted for a destination mobile number. Enter it and press Send.

The recipient will see the card, and can click to save (or discard). The name and number will be added to his/her address book for immediate use.

Note: the Send card via IR (infra red) option can also be used if both phones support it.
